Meet our Volunteers: Melissa Quayle

April 24, 2013

Meet our Volunteers: MelissaWe’re celebrating National Volunteer Week by introducing you to a handful of our amazing volunteers! Today we’re profiling Melissa Quayle. Melissa was a standout volunteer in our office and at Pablove events when she lived in Los Angeles, and now she represents Pablove across the country in Brooklyn! Here’s what we learned about Melissa in a recent interview:

I discovered The Pablove Foundation by…
Walking by the original offices on Sunset in Silver Lake. Idealist helped make the connection.

I volunteer for The Pablove Foundation by…
Doing all sorts of fun and strange tasks. I bartend, set up events, file papers, organize spreadsheets, take inventory, mail packages, teach jump rope, and anything else the great folks at Pablove ask me to tackle.

My go-to, can’t-live-without treat is…
CARROT CAKE!

My favorite YouTube video of all time is…
Sneezing baby panada. Seriously, look it up: http://youtu.be/FzRH3iTQPrk

When I’m not fighting childhood cancer with love I am…
Double dutch jump roping at all the best parties in town.

My formula for happiness is…

  • Dancing
  • Good folks
  • Jump ropes
  • Cocktails
  • Laughter

I fell in pablove with The Pablove Foundation when…
It could’ve been at the symposium where childhood cancer survivors shared stories of painful struggles with cancer to give hope to families and children currently fighting the battle. It could’ve been at the nurse information sessions at CHLA where we shared Pablo’s story with healthcare professionals in an attempt to raise awareness of Pablove’s research grants and programs for families like Pablove Shutterbugs. It could’ve been at True Pablove where we danced, crafted, and face painted the day away, all to raise funds and awareness. You can bet I really fell in pablove when I heard Jo Ann and Jeff, doctors, and friends share incredibly powerful memories of Pablo’s spirit and courage in the face of cancer. I fell for Pablove hard.
