Meet our Volunteers: Jorge Moran

April 22, 2013

Meet our Volunteers: JorgeWe’re celebrating National Volunteer Week by introducing you to a handful of our amazing volunteers! Today we’re profiling Jorge Moran, who volunteers as a Spanish translator for families participating in our Pablove Shutterbugs photography program. Here’s what we learned about Jorge in a recent interview:

I discovered The Pablove Foundation by…
Facebook! After seeing the Eulogies perform at a concert, I started following the band on Facebook. A few months later, they posted about playing a show to celebrate the end of Pablove Across America. That’s when I looked into The Pablove Foundation, and began following their Facebook updates, too.

I volunteer for The Pablove Foundation by…
Serving as an interpreter for the Spanish-speaking families of the Pablove Shutterbugs program. I also found out about that volunteer opportunity through the magic of Facebook. (It probably sounds like I’m on Facebook a lot. But I will neither confirm or deny that.)

My go-to, can’t-live-without treat is…
Mostly chocolate. And Coffee Rio candies from Trader Joe’s. (I have a sweet tooth.) And tea. Oh, and wine.

My favorite YouTube video of all time is…
My favorite goal from my favorite soccer team, Arsenal. I can watch this all day, and still marvel at how awesome a goal it was: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJaU5Q5Jv8w

When I’m not fighting childhood cancer with love I am…
A Senior Producer at Fox Soccer. A work on a few soccer shows a week, and sometimes get to travel to soccer games throughout the United States and Europe.

My formula for happiness is…

  • Making my nieces Sofia (4) and Lucia (2) laugh and enjoy themselves always, always, always makes me happy.
  • Reading!
  • Food, drinks, and late night conversations with good friends.
  • Volunteering. ( I HAD to have this one on here, right?)
  • Working out.

I fell in pablove with The Pablove Foundation when…
I read about the foundation’s goals, and the reason it was created. A good friend passed away from cancer a few years ago. Now that I have nieces, I cannot imagine a child going through some of the same hardships that my friend endured. Pablove seemed to me like a labor of love (I mean, the word “love” IS in the foundation’s name!), and I always admired and respected that.
