More Info on Volunteer Teaching Assistants: The primary role of the three volunteer Teaching Assistants will be to support the teacher during our photography classes. The larger group (15 students) will be divided into 3 smaller groups for activities according to student age and a Teaching Assistant will be assigned to each age group. It will be the responsibility of the Teaching Assistants to “translate” the lesson into age appropriate language for the group of students they are working closely with that day.

Teaching Assistants help their age groups understand concepts that the teacher might not be able to explain or clarify when working to move the entire class forward from one activity to another. They are there to answer questions and help troubleshoot.

They are also expected to attend all 5 sessions of the course and to help set up the classroom space before each class, aid with administrative tasks like taking attendance and checking-in with families, and to clean-up at the end of the day.

Qualifications for Volunteer Teaching Assistants are as follows:

  • Photography experience (professional experience a plus)
  • Experience working with children a plus
  • Enthusiasm and positive attitude
  • Willingness to commit to 5 consecutive Saturdays: March 29, April 5, April 12, April 26, and May 3.

How to Help: Submit a Pablove Shutterbugs Program Support application to [email protected] no later than Monday, March 17, 2014. All volunteers must pass a National Criminal File background screening to participate in Pablove Shutterbugs classes.
