Pablove Shutterbugs – Los Angeles

Come join us in our hometown!

Only available in our hometown of Los Angeles, the 8-week out-of-hospital program is a one-on-one mentorship, which pairs students with their very own professional photography mentor. Students receive personalized instruction at their home, as well as through group classes at a local art institution. Like the 5-week, the 8-week program concentrates on the fundamentals of photography, and students receive a digital camera kit which is theirs to keep upon graduation.

Group classes are held at The Huntington Library, Art Collection and Botanical Gardens. This program is supported in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts.

Our Pablove Shutterbugs Alumni Summer Camp is a four-day overnight camp located in Southern California. This intermediate course is only for alumni ages 8-18 who have already participated in one of our Pablove Shutterbugs beginners courses: 8-Week Mentorship (specific to LA) or 5-Week. Besides learning intermediate photographic concepts, there’s plenty of time reserved for camp activities that include: swimming, nature walks, and making friendships that last a lifetime. Click here to apply! Applications are due March 15, 2019.
Our advanced course is designed for students ages 14+ who have participated in our beginners and the intermediate courses. Through participation in this 10-week course, our teen alumni use advanced photography equipment to not only further their photography skills, but use their images to explore their artistic identity and what it means to be youth diagnosed with cancer. The goal of this course is for our students to walk away as stronger advocates for pediatric cancer and be empowered to make a change in their communities through their photography. Students work together, and individually, on a series of photo projects that culminate in a gallery show curated by their class group.
