John Michael is 6 years old and living in New Orleans, Louisiana. He loves playing with Legos, especially Star War Legos! When he grows up, he hopes to be a police man and a father. Early 2017 he was diagnosed with Acral Lentiginous Melanoma and then went into remission a year later. After a relapse in 2018, John Michael is recovering from a bone marrow transplant and plans to be back in school next year. He heard about the Shutterbugs program from his Child Life Specialist, Miranda, at Children’s Hospital New Orleans and was interested since he loves to take pictures. He thinks artwork is beautiful and wants to show his journey through his photographs. One of his favorite things during the program was making new friends and being able to take their portrait.
