Title: Sports Programs / Events Director

Reports to: CEO

This full-time exempt position will work closely with all members of the Pablove staff, volunteers, contractors and participants to design and execute a meaningful and financially sound endurance events program. The focal point of this position is our signature event Pablove Across America (PAA), our 5-day, pro-supported cycling event that occurs each fall. Other activities include additional one- and multi-day rides, and other sports programs which include other disciplines and/or corporate or community partners. Pablove’s sports events rely heavily on relationship building, peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns, and corporate sponsorships. The individual in this role develops and adheres to project and communication plans, budgets, and timelines; maintains, renews, and implements traditional and innovative fundraising, stewardship, and marketing/PR tactics, and is always poised to be voice and face of Pablove’s Sports Events. Your core work:

  • Provide leadership, project plans, and timelines, and increase the program’s appeal to new target demographics, attracting repeat participation from veteran riders, and enhance the program’s effectiveness for the participants and financial benefit of Pablove.
  • Ideate fresh tactics for Pablove’s community-building and word-of-mouth: Develop, launch and fully implement a comprehensive (marketing) campaign to recruit, support and steward a cadre of participants, potentially including virtual.
  • Develop budgets, meet, and ideally outperform annual revenue and expense targets.
  • Oversee and work closely with Pablove’s contracted third-party production company to ensure that a high-quality, rider-focused event is produced and executed.
  • Oversee the development and participate in the execution of training rides and cycling engagements (may include education). Ensure that riders achieve and surpass their personal fundraising goals and are provided the appropriate tools, incentives and recognition to do so. Identify fundraising opportunities to assist with and supplement riders’ fundraising efforts.
  • Identify appropriate activities and develop an annual calendar of events throughout the country, with particular emphasis on Pablove program markets including California, Louisiana, Texas, and the North East. These smaller events will have no or limited production support.
  • Maintain regular and meaningful communication with all riders. Ensure that participants are provided a top-notch, high-quality rider experience, not only during the event, but through all phases of event planning and riders’ preparations.
  • Collaborate with and provide staff leadership for the Pablove Cycling Committee.
  • Coordinate and oversee all Team Pablove event logistics as needed.


  • Collaborate with Pablove’s development team to align and report on fundraising goals, fundraising strategies, and metrics.
  • Collaborate with Pablove’s Corporate Sponsorship Specialist to attract meaningful corporate sponsorships for PAA and other sports events.
  • Collaborate with Social Media Manager on messaging (e.g. Pablove’s website, events sites, social media, incl. Strava). Draft email + direct-marketing campaigns, optimizing constituent lists.
  • Align with Shutterbugs and Research programs on integration of programmatic messaging to keep the Pablove mission front and center with Pablove’s athletic peer-to-peer fundraisers.
  • Support accurate financial, Classy, and Salesforce reporting of athletics program activities, including budgeting and reconciliation.
  • Participate and lead work groups and committees as assigned.
  • Participate in teamwork and collaborations across departments.
  • Other tasks as assigned.


  • A minimum of 4 years’ experience with and/or overseeing various endurance event programs
  • Efficiency with Microsoft Office/Google Suites or similar product suite
  • Peer-to-peer fundraising


  • Strong project management and follow-up skills — incredibly organized and detail-oriented
  • Strong communication skills: both verbal and written, as well as social media
  • Ability to be effective in self-reliant environments (innovative, making things work, collaborative, effective), as well as to work efficiently as part of a team
  • High integrity combined with tact and saint-like people skills
