22 reasons to ride 22 miles

August 5, 2013

We want you to cross the Pablove Across America finish line with us! Sign up to ride PAA in LA — the final 22 miles of our annual ride to fight childhood cancer with love, one pedal stroke at a time. Here’s 22 reasons why…

1. After just three years we’ve funded $600,000 in innovative childhood cancer research because of events like Pablove Across America.

2. Swag. Who doesn’t like free stuff?

3. This is the fifth anniversary of PAA — can you believe it?

4. We’re keeping the pablove local and ending where it all began – at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, where we’ll present gifts to fund neuroblastoma research and their Teen Impact program.

5. Top up your fundraising and win great prizes, like an unlimited membership to Pedal Spin Studio or Pablove Cycling Gear.

6. Families are coming from near and far for our Childhood Leukemia Symposium in November, co-chaired by former NCI Clinical Director Alan Wayne, MD.

7. With only a 22-mile route, you could actually beat the pros to the finish line.

8. Pablove Shutterbugs has brought photography into the lives of over 300 children and teens living with cancer.

9. “There’s something about the outsides of a bike that’s good for the insides of a person.” Winston Churchill made this smart statement (sort of).

10. Your participation makes a difference in the fight against childhood cancer. Yup. You.

11. Twenty-two miles is nothing compared to 500. (Very few spots are left for the full ride, if you dare!)

12. Your online fundraising page plus social media is a potent combination. Create your profile and meet your goal in no time!

13. Nothing makes you feel more legit on the bike than SRAM Neutral Race Support covering your back.

14. Cancer claims the lives of more children each year than AIDS, asthma, cystic fibrosis, and diabetes combined. We’re funding research to change that fact.

15. The ride begins near the Sylmar-San Fernando Metrolink Station, for easy parking, dropoff, or public transit.

16. Your support helps Pablove sponsor groundbreaking events like Family Day at the International Conference on Pediatric Renal Tumor Biology.

17. Kids age 13 and up are welcome to join the ride with a parent or guardian. How fun!

18. One out of every 300 males and one out of every 333 females in America will develop cancer before their 20th birthday. Chances are, you know one of these children or teens.

19. Scope our custom Pablove Trek Madones, complete with SRAM components and ZIPP wheels, before they go up for auction in October.

20. Nearly two-thirds of childhood cancer survivors experience significant and chronic medical problems, or develop secondary cancers as adults that result from the treatment of their original cancer. Our Childhood Cancer Survivorship Symposium aims to help.

21. The PAA peloton hails from California to Massachusetts to Texas, and everywhere in between! You’ll find kindred spirits among this group.

22. Did we mention that your support makes all the difference in our fight against childhood cancer?
