Channel Island Surfboards Joins Forces With The Pablove Foundation

March 24, 2011

Channel Islands Surfboards is partnering with The Pablove Foundation! One percent of profits from Channel Islands’ non-signature accessory line, which includes surfboard bags, travel packs, traction and leashes, will be donated to Pablove in hopes of raising funds and awareness for the individuals and families affected by childhood cancer.

Childhood cancer hits home for Channel Islands Surfboards as founder Al Merrick’s granddaughter has battled the disease for the past two years: “Nothing strikes you harder than a child with cancer, given my experiences with my granddaughter Daisy, I am excited to be able to form a partnership between Channel Islands Surfboards and The Pablove Foundation to help fight childhood cancer with love.”

Jo Ann Thrailkill, Executive Director and Co-founder of Pablove, is just as excited about this union: “We’re honored to connect with another Southern California family whose lives have been forever changed by pediatric cancer. The Wilms’ Tumor club gets only 500 new members a year, and both Daisy and Pablo were affected. The new link between Channel Islands Surfboards and The Pablove Foundation is symbolic of the link that is instantly formed between kids’ cancer families. This program will help bring much needed light to pediatric cancer and the focus our families have on helping to find answers.”

Both Channel Islands and The Pablove Foundation hope to expand their partnership beyond the accessory line in the near future.  Possibilities include benefit events and special auction items to be donated towards cancer research and support for families whose children are battling the disease.

Channel Islands’ accessory line debuted in 2008 and is currently sold across the US in about 90 stores and online at www.cisurfboards.com. The line provides dedicated surfers with the most advanced performance equipment through a line of surfboard bags, leashes, traction pads and travel gear. Like Channel Islands’ boards, the accessory line is the result of the demand on design created by the world’s greatest surfers. Price points vary from $24.00 to $280.00 retail.
