the power of pablove, a note from our CEO

March 23, 2020
  the power of pablove
a note from our CEO, Kerstin Lynam

Dear friend,

We believe in the strength and power of community. Pablove was founded on the love of friends and family coming together in a time of crisis. And we’re proud and grateful to serve as a beacon of hope and support in dark times. It’s literally who we are and what makes us tick. It’s what’s called each of our team and board members to carry out this mission and dig into this life-changing work. And it’s the vibrant spirit of pablove that likely made you join us, too!

While this forced disruption of our “normal lives” feels so new to many of us, this is the all-too familiar reality for our Shutterbugs and their families. The unpredictable routine dictated by cancer and its treatment comes full of risks and without any sense of control. I’m humbled by this realization. As we face this unprecedented moment in our lifetimes, I feel an even deeper connection to the communities we serve.

The Pablove Foundation remains committed to improving the lives of kids with cancer and funding the critical research to fuel their cures. Our work will not stop. These changing times have provided us the momentum to innovate how we deliver healing arts to kids who need it most. While our Spring 2020 Shutterbugs classes are postponed, we’re developing activities to engage and creatively nurture our students in the virtual realm.

As we navigate this pandemic, we’re especially thankful for our hospital and research partners, many of whom are keeping us updated from the frontlines of tackling Covid-19.

I am also grateful to every single one of you reading this. It is YOU who will continue to sustain our mission. Thank you for the goodness and care you have shown us. We hope we make your life brighter too!

I love exploring the photos in our Pablove Prints Shop — so many of the images express such a joie de vivre. We can learn so much from our Shutterbugs’ positive perspectives.

Let’s stay connected via email and social media as we keep fighting childhood cancer with love. Together, we will infuse hope + light at the time when our world needs it most. 💓

stay well + stay with pablove,

Kerstin Lynam, CEO

our commitment to you during COVID – 19

March 11, 2020

UPDATED: March 16, 2020

We want to update you on The Pablove Foundation’s planning and response to the rapidly changing COVID-19 situation, with our continued focus on guarding the safety and well-being of our communities, with a special eye on our Shutterbugs who may be immunocompromised.

The Pablove Foundation includes a wonderful Scientific Advisory Board, that is charged with selecting the most impactful research to fund help find a cure. This Board is comprised of medical and medical research professionals, and we have consulted some of them on what we – as a Foundation – should consider going forward. Further, we are in touch with our Hospital partners across the nation, and we are adapting according to their recommendations. We are obviously concerned about our Shutterbugs:

  • Houston Shutterbugs Introductory Class (Spring 2020): Class has been postponed until further notice
  • All Other Introductory Classes: Postponed until further notice
  • New York City Advanced Class: Classes will be held online for the remainder of the current session
  • Shutterbugs Summer Camp (June): No change as of now
  • All Shutterbugs Gallery Shows originally scheduled for the spring will be postponed until further notice
  • Pablove Shutterbugs graduation events will be conducted online

We will be in touch with parents and Shutterbugs supporting teaching teams if and when plans change with additional information.

The Pablove Foundation and its origin are based on love and community. We continue to believe that community matters but it must reflect the guidance for health policy advisors.  To stay safe, we recommend:

  • Wash hands often with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds
  • Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze then throw the tissue in the trash. Then wash your hands with soap and water
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands
  • Avoid shaking hands and instead use an alternative greeting protocol
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick (stay 6 feet away)
  • Clean and disinfect all frequently touched objects and surfaces
  • Heed the advice from your local authorities

For questions and concerns, please contact [email protected] or email me at [email protected]

with care and pablove,

Kerstin Lynam
Pablove CEO
